Cantine Rizzi is one of the most impressive wineries in Piedmont. Situated atop a ridge on the road (via Rizzi) that leads to Treiso (one of the best sub-areas of Barbaresco), the estate offers some of the most spectacular 360 degree views you will find anywhere. Since 1974, the Dellapiano family (led by Ernesto and now his son Enrico) has produced a variety of wines, including Barbera, Dolcetto, Sparkling, Chardonnay and especially four single site and select Barbarescos. In general, the style is that of aromatic wines, pure and endowed with an almost tender elegance and a singing accessibility. This can be attributed in part to the gentle extraction of the tannins (no cap diving here, only pumping over). They are not without structure, however, and this aspect strengthens as you progress through the hierarchy, from the open, feminine Rizzi to the deeper Pajore, Nervo, and Boito.
