About this winery

Originally founded in 1864, the Rocca family farm has grown over the years into a well-established winery in the heart of the renowned Barbaresco region. In 1958, the grandfather purchased land in Rabajà, a prestigious Barbaresco cru. It is on this cru that they produce renowned wines from the famous Nebbiolo grape variety. After years of experimentation and the pursuit of perfection, today, in a family atmosphere of renewal and tradition, their children Francesco and Luisa carry on the torch...

Product notes

The grandparents, Francesco and Maria Adelaide Rocca, acquired part of the Rabajà vineyard in 1958, including the eponymous farmhouse that now houses their winery. The wine from these vines was first bottled by the Rocca family in 1978. Rabajà is undeniably a great wine of Barbaresco.

Production notes

Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks for three weeks. Malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. All oak barrels are at least 40 months old and are air-dried to minimize their influence on the wine. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, followed by 12 months in larger capacity French oak barrels. A minimal amount of sulfur is added.

Tasting notes

Deep, intense garnet red. The aroma envelops the nose with floral scents (wild rose and violet) and buttery notes, which then give way to fruit (raspberry, cherry, black cherry). A warm and enveloping flavor with soft, supple tannins; elegant and sumptuous, especially on the palate, where it echoes the aromas already perceived on the nose. Pairs well with red meats.

Antonio Galloni, October 2025 (Vintage 2022)

The 2022 Barbaresco Rabajà is another classy, polished wine from the Rocca family. The breadth and power of Rabajà are evident in this strapping young Barbaresco. Dark Nebbiolo fruit, rose petal, mint, dried herbs and gravel are some of the many notes that come alive in the glass. This really explodes on the back end. Superb
