Product notes

Rivetto's Barolo DOCG Serralunga d'Alba is a blend of grapes from biodynamically farmed plots in the San Bernardo, Serra, and Manocino crus. Hand-harvested, the vines, planted in 1975 or earlier, thrive in the clay-limestone soils of Serravalli, rich in magnesium, calcium, and iron.

Production notes

The Barolo DOCG Serralunga d'Alba undergoes spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and maceration of up to 40 days, before aging for 30 months in 3000 L Hungarian and Slavonian oak barrels and another year of rest in the bottle.

Tasting notes

A certified biodynamic Barolo is a true delight. The fact that it has fermented solely with indigenous yeasts and with minimal intervention is even rarer. What is perfectly normal here is the faithful expression of the grape variety and the appellation. This classic-style Barolo is destined for long aging in the cellar. Aromas of blue flowers, rose, new leather, spices, and wild berries set the tone. On the palate, ample and flavorful, one discovers firm tannins that envelop a juicy core of cherry and raspberry, while notes of cinnamon and clove lend it depth. Pairs well with truffle pasta and ribeye steak.

James Suckling, January 2025 (Vintage 2021)

A complex Barolo with aromas of restrained strawberries, dried red cherries, violets, potpourri, licorice and wet stones. Medium- to full-bodied with crisp acidity and firm, dusty tannins that are ripe in the finish despite its sternness. Chewy, youthful aftertaste. Try from 2027.

Walter Speller, October 2024 (Vintage 2021)

Just mid ruby. Concentrated and with great purity on the nose. Juicy and fragrant raspberry and cherry, with real lightness of touch. Long and with sandpapery tannins. Complete
