About this winery

In the heart of northern Piedmont, La Prevostura rises dramatically from a breathtaking landscape of rolling hills and ancient soils. This renowned hillside, one of the region's best-exposed terroirs, has long been renowned for its noble Nebbiolo grape varieties. Product notes

La Prevostura covers 5 hectares on the famous Lessona hillside of the same name. The soil, composed of ancient marine sands, allows the Nebbiolo, Vespolina, and Croatina grape varieties to fully express themselves.

Production notes

These vines are planted at the highest altitude of the La Prevostura vineyard. They ferment and macerate for 30 days in stainless steel vats. They then undergo malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. They are then aged for 22 months in barriques and tonneaux, before being refined after an additional 11 months in bottle.

Tasting notes

The color is a beautiful, fairly pale ruby. The nose is of medium intensity with aromas of flowers, violets, fresh fruit, red cherry, plum, and some hints of spice. On the palate, it is dry with high acidity, powerful tannins, and a medium body, with pronounced flavors of cherry and spice. A very nice, long finish. Pair with pork chop or veal with morels.

James Suckling, July 2024 (Vintage 2019)

Graceful Parma violets with dried cherries, strawberries, blood oranges and smoky, toasty depth. The palate shows a light body with silky condensed tannins, crisp acidity and a graphite aftertaste. Drink or hold.
