Product notes
Born in the wake of the Tuscan experience of the mid-1980s, Marzieno has managed to forge a unique personality and, above all, credibility over the years, to the point that it has become, according to critics, one of the few red wines from our region to rival the best Italian red wines of its kind. Starting with the 2001 harvest, while maintaining the solid base of Sangiovese, the Marzieno blend saw the introduction, alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, of other grape varieties such as Syrah and Merlot.
Production notes
Vinification in 500-liter French oak barrels for two weeks with manual pumping-over, and in medium-capacity stainless-steel vats with a maceration period of 15 to 21 days. Aged in French oak barrels (20% new) and partly in American and Hungarian oak barrels (10%) for twelve months.
Tasting notes
Dark ruby red. On the nose, aromas of black fruits and berries are evident, with hints of cherries marinated in alcohol, as well as spices, tobacco, and chocolate. On the palate, it is rich and flavorful with supple, velvety tannins. Powerful on the palate, yet balanced by freshness. Pair with red meats.
