About this winery

Located in the commune of Puyloubier at the foot of the Sainte-Victoire mountain, this estate is set against a natural backdrop of red earth. Its history spans more than forty years. Henning Hoesch, a German-born Yale professor, left the American campus in 1972 to purchase this 65-hectare estate, which was then completely uncultivated. Product notes

Domaine Richaume’s Cuvée Tradition Rouge represents the best of Mediterranean IGP winemaking, blending Syrah, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Production notes

Following traditional vinification, the wine is aged in barrels that are less than four years old. New barrels are reserved for red wines with tannins that need softening. Grenache, which is very low in tannins, can thus be aged in barrels for 12 months as part of a blend.

Tasting notes

Its brilliant, dark color echoes the beautiful, deep hue of the estate's red soils. On the nose, pepper and red fruit reveal the smooth character of this masculine wine. On the palate, the cuvée is round and powerful, developing pronounced red fruit notes. Pairs well with grilled meats and meat dishes in sauce.
