About this winery
A 23-hectare family estate located 17 km from Cahors on the Causse Calcaire, Combel-la-Serre came into being under the impetus of Jean-Pierre ILBERT, who decided to leave the cooperative winery in 1998 to become independent. Product notes
This unconventional single vineyard wine is the result of Sophie and Julien Ilbert's free-spirited and curious intuition. Planting Albarino in Cahors? It is in this contrast that this wine finds its greatest harmony. The story begins on the heights of the Causse, in a small west-facing plot swept by the winds, where freshness and light are balanced with rare elegance.
Production notes
Limestone terroir, west-facing. Hand-picked grapes, direct pressing, and fermentation in cement vats. Aged for 12 months in old French oak barrels and 50-liter conical barrels.
Tasting notes
On the nose: lemon zest, white pear, and lemon blossom with a hint of saltiness and vegetal notes. Straightforward, crystalline, and mineral on the palate, yet delicate. Long and fresh finish.
