About this winery
The history of Château Pradeaux dates back to 1752 when Jean-Marie-Etienne Portalis, a lawyer and co-author of the French Civil Code, acquired the property. Nine generations later, Etienne Portalis continues the family legacy while evolving with the times. Certified organic since the 2023 vintage, Château Pradeaux showcases Mourvèdre, the flagship grape variety growing on 75% of the 22 hectares of vines.

Production notes
Hand-picked from October 3rd to 8th, 2019. Light crushing without destemming followed by fermentation in cement vats temperature-controlled between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius using indigenous yeasts. Daily pumping over, racking, and light punching down. Racking off after 7 weeks of maceration in concrete vats, malolactic fermentation completed at the end of November. Racking and aging in aged oak barrels. AGEING: Aged in oak barrels for 48 months to allow the Mourvèdre and its stems to soften, in aged wood (from 40 to 80 years old).
Tasting notes
Garnet color with brick-red highlights. A blossoming nose of ripe fruit, undergrowth, and leather. On the palate, you'll find a wine that begins to meld, blending its tannic and aromatic components for an almost open-hearted experience. The tannins are soft and have mellowed through long aging in oak barrels. The finish is sustained, revealing notes of spices and dried herbs, along with savory blackberry notes. Pair with rack of lamb with herbs.
