About this winery

The success of Château de La Chaize is based on respect for terroirs and the unique know-how acquired over 350 years. Using a parcel-by-parcel approach, the estate has 23 cadastral parcels, spread across the Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Fleurie and Morgon appellations, and each parcel is vinified and aged separately to reveal its character and uniqueness.

Product notes

"Les Fées" is a blended cuvée, made from a selection of our cadastral lieux-dits located in the Fleurie appellation on granite soils.

Production notes

Vinification by plot (100% Gamay Noir) / Destemmed grapes / Maceration: 15 days in stainless steel tanks. Pump-overs and racking. No punch-downs. Sulfiting after malolactic fermentation and at bottling / Aging: 8 months in large oak casks

Tasting notes

A light ruby robe with violet highlights. The nose is open, revealing juicy red fruits, cherry, raspberry, and a hint of peony. The oak aging gracefully enhances the whole. The palate is balanced and medium-bodied. The mid-palate is round and supple, the tannins are well-managed, and the finish is crisp with a touch of spice. This is a Fleurie to be enjoyed young; with its beautiful harmony, it remains appealing and flavorful even in its early youth. Pairs well with charcuterie, grilled meats, and cheeses.

James Suckling, June 2025 (Vintage 2023)

A prototypical Fleurie with a wealth of summer-flower aromas wrapped around a core of silky tannins and mineral freshness on the elegant, medium-bodied palate. Long, structured yet filigree finish. A cuvee of wines from organically grown grapes in various sites. Matured entirely in concrete tanks for eight months before bottling. Drink or hold.
