About this winery

Langa is our territory, where our roots date back to the 19th century. Cascina Penna-Currado is our family project, which involves us completely, a dream come true, on a human scale, with an eye toward the future. We are located on the Serralunga d'Alba ridge, within a farmhouse that exudes history and beauty, fundamental elements that have been preserved and brought to light.

Product notes

San Sebastiano, Monforte d'Alba. From two southwest-facing vineyards, with vines aged 25 and 70 years. Thanks to the advanced maturity of the vines, low yields, and late ripening due to the altitude and direct exposure to the Alps, the grapes reach optimal maturity. Neither dried out nor overripe, they are remarkably concentrated and retain all the aromatic richness of Barbera.

Production notes

Due to the altitude and cold air currents, the grapes in this region near Monforte are harvested late, allowing them to benefit from a prolonged seven-day cold maceration. This is followed by twelve days of simple, traditional, and gentle primary fermentation. After a few days of post-fermentation maceration, malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously. The wine is then aged in large barrels for approximately one year.

Tasting notes

Its deep ruby color testifies to an exceptional structure. On the nose, rich aromas of black fruits, such as plum and blueberry, mingle with spicy and balsamic notes. On the palate, the vibrant minerality perfectly balances the wine's roundness. With its fine, velvety tannins, this wine is best enjoyed slowly.
