About this winery

Cara Sur is a small winery formed in 2011 as a partnership between two couples who were inspired to revive ancestral vines and produce wines from traditional Argentine varietals. Luis Gutiérrez, November 2022 (Vintage 2022)

The 2022 Tinto comes from a field blend of 1.2 hectares planted with Barbera, Freisa, Cardin, Greco Nero, Bonarda and other unidentified varieties fermented with full clusters that were foot trodden and fermented in concrete eggs, where it matured for eight months. There's a significant part of Bonarda here that gives it more volume, even though they tried to use less Bonarda here to have a slimmer wine, with less color, more finesse and length. It's definitely darker than the Criolla wines, with a bright ruby color and a very young and primary nose with notes of fresh fruit and a medium-bodied palate with a juicy texture and a tender mouthfeel but with some grip from fine tannins. 15,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2022.
