About this winery
Established in the Treviso region of Veneto in the years preceding Prosecco's international rise to fame, Ca di' Rajo uses the Glera grape variety to produce its renowned sparkling wines. A family business since the 1930s, this vineyard has become a showcase for traditional production methods, often neglected by larger producers.

Production notes
Sangue del Diavolo (Devil's Blood) is made from 10% dried grapes, which are left for about forty days, and 90% overripe grapes. The latter are then aged for 36 months in barrels from 12 hectares, while the remaining 10% spend the same amount of time in barrels.
Tasting notes
Its robe is a deep, almost impenetrable ruby, and its powerful nose reveals aromas of macerated violet, morello cherry, blueberry, blackberry, and plum, before opening up to notes of cinnamon, licorice wood, a hint of vanilla, and a touch of pepper. The palate is just as assertive; the drying process has undoubtedly been beneficial, perfectly balancing the acidity. The tannins are remarkably fine, and the persistent finish evokes licorice and dark fruits, in a flavorful and pleasing whole. Pairs well with pasta, stews, and cheeses.
