About this winery

The Borie de Maurel estate is located in the heart of the Livinière terroir (Félines-Minervois), the first Villages appellation of Minervois and Languedoc. Since the late 1980s, Michel Escande has established himself as one of the best winemakers in Minervois, thanks in particular to the admirably mellow and silky tannins of his reds. The Story of the Cuvée: The Magic Circle If, by looking up, you can see the fire of the sky, if below lies the earth, if the water comes from the West, and the wind from the East, then without a doubt, you are in a magic circle. Protected by these four guardian angels, the vines of our vineyards have also been able to invoke these same entities in turn, to provide us, in perfect harmony, with the fruit necessary for the alchemy of this cuvée. But also to offer these wines the protection of the magic circle against the demons of marketing, merchandising, and mass distribution. All that remained, then, was to add a little of the love that beautiful things inspire in us, so that the magic could work.

Tasting notes

The wine is dark, a deep purple. On the nose, a pure sensation of ripe fruit: plum and blackberry, enhanced by fresh spices and a subtle floral note. On the palate, the attack is ample and luscious, the velvety texture enveloping the palate. The tannins seduce with their natural silkiness, without harshness, supporting a luscious density. The finish, fruity and spicy, lingers with notes of cocoa and licorice, offering real tension without heaviness. A Languedoc wine that is simple in its honesty, rich in pleasure and sincerity. Pairs well with vegetarian dishes and quiche.
