About this winery

The origin of the Château de Minière dates back to the 15th century. The property was a fortified farm. Later, it became a manor; then, during the 16th century, it became a Château. The last wing of the Château was built during the union of Colonel du Soulier with the d’Espinay family. This family also owned the Château d’Ussé not far from there, on the other side of the Loire.

Product notes

Young vines of 30-40 years old on Loire soil (sand + sandy-clay).

Production notes

Mechanical harvest followed by sorting of the berries in the cellar. Cold pre-fermentation maceration (6-7°C) for 3-4 days. Alcoholic fermentation begins in stainless steel vats. Aged for 6 to 9 months in stainless steel vats.

Tasting notes

Ruby color with garnet highlights. Nose of fresh red fruits. The round, full palate with red fruit accents supports the very slightly tannic structure. Pairs well with charcuterie, meat, and poultry.

James Suckling, March 2024 (Vintage 2022)

Attractive fresh nose of blueberries and violets. The sleek, medium-bodied palate features surprisingly fine tannins for an entry level wine, plus a hint of grilled bell peppers, but the full black and blue berry fruit aromas are what make this a joyful Loire cabernet franc. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
