About this winery

The success of Château de La Chaize is based on respect for terroirs and the unique know-how acquired over 350 years. Using a parcel-by-parcel approach, the estate has 23 cadastral parcels, spread across the Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Fleurie and Morgon appellations, and each parcel is vinified and aged separately to reveal its character and uniqueness.

Product notes

This single-plot cuvée comes from one hectare of vines, averaging 40 years old, located in the village of Fleurie, in the cadastral location "La Chapelle des Bois", facing southwest. The soil is made up of coarse sand with some granite pebbles.

Production notes

Vinification by plot (100% Gamay Noir), 75% Whole Harvest Yeast type: Indigenous Maceration: 11 days of maceration in stainless steel vats. Aging: 12 months in oak barrels

Tasting notes

Beautiful ruby color. The palate is juicy, beautifully ripe, with a hint of sunshine, without being stewed. Red fruits enliven this palette with Burlat cherry, crushed strawberry, and some blackberry notes. The overall effect is legible with a touch of spice. The terroir of La Chapelle des Bois often offers us this palate profile: round and velvety. A luscious overall palate with polished tannins. A few fine bitters round off the tasting and remind us that we are on granite. Pairings with Cote de Boeuf

James Suckling, March 2024 (Vintage 2022)

This beautiful Fleurie has stacks of black raspberry fruit, but is anything other than loud. It gracefully tiptoes over your palate. Barely medium-bodied, but such a wonderful elegance right through the very long, filigreed finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Stuart Pigott

Riggie Solomon, December 2024 (Vintage 2022)

This is a standout Fleurie. Delicate, floral aromas waft from the glass along with hibiscus, red raspberry, Darjeeling tea, pomegranate and dried cherry. A silky palate frames well-integrated fruit and entices the senses with subtle moments of savoriness that emerge on the finish
