About this winery

Langa is our territory, where our roots date back to the 19th century. Cascina Penna-Currado is our family project, which involves us completely, a dream come true, on a human scale, with an eye toward the future. We are located on the Serralunga d'Alba ridge, within a farmhouse that exudes history and beauty, fundamental elements that have been preserved and brought to light.

Product notes

Berzano di Tortona area, Alexandria. Grapes from 15-year-old vines facing east.

Production notes

Fermentation takes place with the skins infused using an unexpected and innovative submerged cap system to allow for perfect extraction and preserve fresh, citrus notes without oxidative tones. The wine remains in contact with the lees in Clayver ceramic containers until bottling. Malolactic fermentation is partially complete. This vinification system allows us to produce an elegant, complex wine with a strong connection to the terroir.

Tasting notes

On the nose, notes of yellow-fleshed fruit, white acacia flowers, and chamomile are perceived. Light tropical notes are present. The submerged cap maceration gives the wine a complex and structured palate while retaining marked acidity, minerality, freshness, and aromatic complexity. Pair well with seafood and fish.

Monica Larner, January 2025 (Vintage 2023)

The Cascina Penna-Currado 2023 Colli Tortonesi Timorasso Derthona (with the initials "E.P." on the front label) represents a well-contemplated continuation of a project started when Elena Penna and Luca Currado were at the helm of the Vietti winery. In fact, they are two of the most vocal spokespeople for the Timorasso grape, which is growing in popularity. This age-worthy wine shows aromas of peach, pear and honey-glazed almond. With time, it should develop a more pronounced minty or mineral side.

Antonio Galloni, September 2024 (Vintage 2023)

The 2023 Timorasso Derthona is gorgeous. Creamy, ample and beautifully layered in the glass, it oers up hints of apricot, chamomile and white owers, with light tropical accents that develop in the glass. Gentle, non-oxidative extraction with stems lends texture, while blocked malolactic fermentation and aging in 5HL Clayver cement barrels keeps the avors bright. This is beautifully done

Antonio Galloni, January 2026 (Vintage 2024)

The 2024 Timorasso is bright, airy and nuanced. This is an especially refined expression of Timorasso, a wine that favors citrus and floral notes more than the phenolic structure that is typical of this indigenous variety. Dried flowers, mint and a touch of petrol shape the
long, distinguished finish. This is such an elegant, refined wine

Bruce Sanderson, November 2025 (Vintage 2024)

A racy, tightly wound white, whose bracing acidity drives the lemon, apple, chamomile, mineral and pastry flavors. Lingers nicely, with a mouthwatering impression. Drink now through 2032. 10,000 cases made.
