About this winery

Originally founded in 1864, the Rocca family farm has grown over the years into a well-established winery in the heart of the renowned Barbaresco region. In 1958, the grandfather purchased land in Rabajà, a prestigious Barbaresco cru. It is on this cru that they produce renowned wines from the famous Nebbiolo grape variety. Product notes

Named after Bruno's children (Francesco + Luisa = Fralù) and sourced from significantly younger vineyards, Bruno Rocca Langhe Nebbiolo Fralù represents the most contemporary venture of this northern Italian wine estate.

Production notes

Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats for 7 to 10 days. Malolactic fermentation temperature is stabilized at around 21/22°C. The amount of sulfite at bottling is reduced to a minimum to preserve the freshness and character of the terroir. 8 to 12 months in second-hand French oak barrels.

Tasting notes

Brilliant ruby red color with garnet highlights. Dense, elegant, and deep nose with fruit such as strawberry, raspberry, and black cherry. A harmonious and well-balanced palate with a pronounced tannic structure typical of Nebbiolo. Pairs well with truffle pasta, roast lamb, and roast duck.

Antonio Galloni, October 2025 (Vintage 2023)

The 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo Fralù is a serious, polished wine. Crushed flowers, red/purplish berry fruit and spice open first. Medium in body and persistent, with excellent supporting structure, the Fralù is gorgeous. The 2023 spent six months in used French oak barrels.

Antonio Galloni, September 2024 (Vintage 2022)

The 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Fralù is an absolute delight. Lifted floral overtones and bright, red-toned fruit grace this translucent Langhe Nebbiolo. The 2022 spent 22 days on the skins, unheard of for a wine at this level, followed by nine months in neutral oak. Silky, polished tannins round things out in style.
